7 (non-political) Map Art Prints of Great Britain
With the general election fast approaching in less than a fortnight on the 7th of May, if there’s one thing you’re guaranteed to see, it’s images of the United Kingdom. To be precise, we’ll all be seeing the UK map divided into constituencies, during the hours of speculation before polling day, and on election night itself.
I’m firmly Team Vox Pop from now on, the new political party that aims to do away with all politicians and put the public in charge, so as an aesthetic antidote to the maps we’ll be seeing over the coming fortnight, here’s my edit of some of the most stylish map art prints of the moment from Etsy.
From the fabric map of Mappliqué (where each region of the UK is represented by a textile relevant to each region, such as tartan for Scotland and linen for Ireland) to the intricately carved wooden topography of James Frame, or the food map of Old English Co., there’s a diverse mix of styles that all bring their own view to the British Isles.
All with the added benefit that a political journalist or pundit won’t be standing in front of them.
